Joaquin Mariona grew up in San Salvador, Bellingham, WA and Kamloops, BC. In 2003, he earned his B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Political Science from what is now Thompson Rivers University. He then went on to the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria where he earned his LLB in 2006.
While in law school, Joaquin had the opportunity to work as a student at the Environmental Appeal Board/Forest Appeals Commission and at the Law Centre. He also spent a term adjudicating driving prohibition appeals at the Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles. Joaquin was called to the Bar in 2007 after completing his articles in Vernon, BC. He practiced in Vernon for two years before joining Mair Jensen Blair LLP as an associate in 2009.
Outside of work, Joaquin keeps busy with his family attending sporting activities and enjoying the beautiful natural setting of the B.C. Interior. He is fluent in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish. For anyone seeking Spanish speaking legal advice, Joaquin is here to help.
